There are few things as frustrating and discouraging as having value to contribute to others and having no others there to contribute that value to.
It can make you feel worthless, hopeless. It’s one of the reasons being a one person small business owner can be so hard.
If you don’t know how to market yourself so that people show up and want to work with you, then you’ll have no one to serve even if you have incredible gifts to share.
It’s why having a job is so much easier. There’s a spot in the existing structure for you where presumably you create value for the company and its customers. Then you get some value, money, in return for your contribution automatically.
Entrepreneurship is different.
You must create value and let people know about it so that they discover and transact with you. Enough people have to transact with you so you can earn a living and hopefully a profit so you can stay in business.
There are separate skills here: Creating value, communicating value, and transacting.
Not easy to do. Marketing takes skill and time to work. Sales takes time to learn, and there’s probably a lot of resistance to overcome.
Be proactive. Be patient. Keep working.
You’ll get there if your vision is clear, you have a plan, and you’re committed to your vision.
